Stronger Together at Glebe Primary School

Glebe Primary School and Parkfield House Nursing Home were linked up online during lockdown to both take part in creative activities as part of the Stronger Together project.

Residents at Parkfield House have enjoyed watching short films that children at Glebe have created and also contributed towards a film with the Year 2 and 3 pupils about what friendship means to them.

We've been working in partnership with each year group across the school to creatively explore what community and togetherness mean.

With funding support of £10,000 from the Armed Forces Covenant Fund, the project is working with pupils  and Parkfield House residents to explore their experiences through drama and creative arts.

Our associate artist Hannah Wood has been delivering weekly workshops with classes to create the first films.

She said: "Stronger Together is all about giving a voice to young and older people, reducing loneliness and creating a sense of pride and enjoyment. Throughout the project, groups of Glebe children and residents at Parkfield House Nursing Home have produced a series of short films to share between them, exploring family life and experiences."

These films were created with children in Reception, Years 2, 3 and 4 during workshops with Hannah, and edited by film-maker Sam Mac Miller.

Throughout lockdown residents and pupils have worked together online with poet Daisy Barrett Nash. Click on the images below to hear their poems about how they keep Stronger Together.
