Getting out in the garden with Wood Green
We’re supporting the hensioners at Wood Green as they get creative with the outdoor space creating a community garden with children from The Drive Primary School.
Over recent weeks they’ve planted their fruit orchard in memory of Bell and are turning their attention to ceramic garden decorations.
Ceramist Lindsey Grieves, who is leading the creative sessions, said: "Together we shared ideas, discussed memories of Bell and came up with a selection of designs to create on tree stumps and stepping stones.
"A great idea from George was to create a hen design but have an apple as part of its body as Bell loved to give the children apples and Albert is going to get to work on a cat design. We also are going to include flowers."
For the Year 3 pupils, this April was the first time they’d visited Wood Green and Owen was on-hand introducing them to the hens and showing them how to hold one.
The gang got organised and started work on clay designs for the stepping stones and mosaic hen pieces and butterflies.
Fran and Danni said they were so excited to see it all come together and can imagine themselves sitting in the garden, surrounded by the trees and their mosaic designs.
