The focus of this project was journeys associated with travelling through the Pedestrian Tunnel that links the north and south sides of the River Tyne. Visual Artist Cath Walshaw and writer Bob Beagrie worked with two schools – All Saints, Jarrow and St Peter’s, Wallsend – together with older people’s groups from Age Concern South Tyneside and cycling enthusiasts from North Tyneside.

As a very ambitious project of only five weeks duration, it took the commitment of the artists, partners, older people and children to produce the excellent work that was exhibited in the tunnel for three months.
