Mindful – Film Archive in dementia care
Partners: Mental Health Concern and Northern Film & Television Archive
Equal Arts commissioned artists Janie Banks and Chris Holmes to work with the residents of two respite and long term care schemes, exploring the use of archive film as a prompt for reminiscence in dementia care. The project was also delivered in the family home once a relationship with a participant had been developed during respite care, so the activity continued on their return home.
The evaluation of the project using Dementia Care Mapping found it to be a high-scoring success.
