Equal Arts

Creative opportunities with older people

Carers

Carer's Cultural Adventures

Over six years Equal Arts has provided this highly successful programme of opportunities for older people who are carers to get out and about and to learn new creative skills. This year they visited a range of venues and events providing feedback to venues to help them improve their services for older people. Other activities they have been involved in include: performance based activities and set design at the Theatre Royal; printmaking at Northern Print Studio, digital photography at St Mary’s Heritage Centre in Gateshead, and environmental improvements to St Edmund’s Park working with the Shipley Art Gallery and local schools.

“It’s a chance to find yourself again, you get lost being a carer and being creative and being part of something helps you remember who you are.”
